Xue Chen holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from Arizona State University, where she was a recipient of the Anna Rosenzweig Memorial String Fellowship and the Special Talent Award. Her scholarly and creative work is centered on expanding contemporary repertoire; her dissertation features The North Suite for solo cello by Yunfei Li, a work inspired by Chinese regional music and published via ProQuest.


An educator with over 15 years of experience, she has prepared students for successful auditions, including placements at various levels with the Phoenix Youth Symphony.


Her performance career spans two continents. Early achievements include being selected to perform with the Xi’an Conservatory of Music’s Traditional Chinese Orchestra at the world-renowned Musikverein Golden Hall in Vienna, Austria. In the United States, her professional orchestral roles have included performing with the Redlands Symphony and the West Valley Symphony, and holding significant positions as Principal Cellist with the Inland Valley Orchestra and Associate Principal with the Scottsdale Philharmonic Orchestra.


As a soloist and chamber musician, Xue Chen has performed at prestigious venues from Arizona to New York, including Carnegie Hall's Weil Recital Hall. Recently, she performed with her newly founded piano trio at the Arizona Opera as part of Rosie’s House Music Academy’s “Make Music Phoenix Day”. The trio was also featured in a live performance segment on FOX 10 television.
