Jacob McInally

Jacob McInally is a jazz saxophonist and private instructor with over 20 years of performance experience. He is trained in modern jazz performance with a strong bebop foundation and has studied jazz theory, improvisation, and musicianship through formal coursework and extensive private study. Jacob has performed in ensembles, small combos, jam sessions, recording projects, and live venues throughout Arizona, working across styles including straight-ahead jazz, rock, funk, and contemporary music.

As a teacher, Jacob emphasizes solid fundamentals, musical understanding, and expressive playing, helping students develop confidence, strong technique, and the ability to improvise with intention. His background outside of music also brings a high level of organization, reliability, and clear communication to his teaching. Jacob works with beginners through advancing players and tailors lessons to each student’s goals, whether that’s learning the basics, preparing for school ensembles, or diving deeper into jazz improvisation.
